For drivers doing average mileage, one Motoflow is sufficient and can deliver a saving of 5-8% and pay for itself in around 6-8000 miles. In some cases, heavy footed drivers may find the Motoflow delivers more power, rather than economy.

On mechanical injector diesel engines fitting a Motoflow 2 onto each injector line has been shown to give much quicker and much bigger savings than fitting one unit on the fuel line before the injector. For motorists doing high mileages, the additional savings (often twice as much!) will repay the additional cost within a year or so. For vehicles doing less miles, it might take considerably longer to pay back, so it's a decision the customer has to make. For an average diesel car with a 4 cylinder engine, the installation cost for four at my prices would be £188 - a bonus saving of £32 on RRP. On heavy transport, where mileages are frequently in the region of 100,000 or more a year, any additional saving is worthwhile. Even if these engines have 6 or 8 cylinders, it's worth going for one Motoflow 2 unit on each injector line on mechanical injector engines.

Motoflow magnetic fuel conditioning is the product that launched Ecoflow in 1991 and has been saving hundreds of thousands of motorists around the world millions of pounds ever since, not to mention the considerable reduction of pollutants being released into the environment.

Over 350,000 units sold! Complete and easy to fit with no cutting or technical knowledge required. Transferable between vehcles.

Fuel that has been subjected to the Motoflow magnetic field appears to burn more efficiently, and more completely, resulting in more energy being available earlier in the combustion stroke of the engine. An increase in power and torque and a reduction in pollutants are generally noticeable. The combustion chambers tend to remain ‘cleaner’, that is less carbon is deposited in the areas of combustion allowing gases to flow freely.  Modern engines are fuel injected and continually monitored electronically to optimise their performance. They are therefore considerably more efficient than engines built in 1991. However, that does not however mean that they cannot benefit from Motoflow in the long term. Reduced pollutants result in an extended life of catalytic converters (expensive to replace) and the cleaner burn helps to extend the efficient life of the engine.

How does it work? To be honest, although I have a Science degree, the evidence is not clear. There is a lot of dispute among scientists over whether and why magnets improve fuel economy. There has been some research into the effect of magnets on hard-water which seems to point at the presence of impurities, such as iron or silica, in the water to create adsorption particles which keep lime in solution, rather than being precipitated as scale. (See my page on this). The key to the effect of magnets on fuel has to be in the improvement of the fuel-air mixture to produce more complete combustion, more power, more miles to the gallon and less exhaust pollution. Whatever the mechanism, having used them myself, I know they work! Just try it for yourself. If you are not totally happy, return it to me within 90 days for a 100% no-quibble refund.

Motoflow improvements depend on the condition of your engine and your driving style. As a guide allow up to 1,000 miles for a petrol engine and a little more for a diesel. Remember, a better combustion will give more power, but it is the driver’s foot that dictates whether the additional power is used to accelerate quicker or improve fuel consumption! Some users have reported between 8% and 15% improvement in fuel economy.Fitting Motoflow will not affect your warranty. There are no pipes to cut and original equipment is not tampered with. Secured to the fuel line with releasable ties this unit works from the moment it's fitted. If you change your vehicle simply remove the Motoflow and fit it to your new vehicle.

I fitted a Motoflow M1 to my Peugeot 406 Diesel. Careful monitoring beforehand showed an average 38mpg. Since fitting the Motoflow, 40-41mpg is normal. The unit paid for itself in 7000 miles or 4 months motoring - and I have the satisfaction of doing a little bit for the environment as well as saving money. If you want to read about a more scientific test, have a look at the Warren Springs report on the Ecoflow / Tests page.

Fitting Instructions for modern vehicles: When fitting any Ecoflow unit to a motor vehicle, it is important to check that the weight does not stress the fuel line. If necessary use the third strap supplied with Motoflow 1 unit to support it. Motoflow is suitable for all engines – petrol, diesel or LPG, carburettors or fuel injectors, turbocharged or normally aspirated, with or without a catalytic convertor. The larger Motoflow 1 is suitable for petrol engines up to 7 litre, or diesel engines up to 3 litres. The average family saloon is 1.4 or 1.6 litres, so you can see that Motoflow is more than capable of treating the fuel for normal cars.

The much smaller Motoflow 2 unit was developed to cater for those engines, which have severely restricted space making fitting the larger unit impossible or very small fuel lines that might be damaged by the heavier Motoflow 1. Motoflow 2 is rated as suitable for petrol engines up to 3 litres. This suggests that it has the ability to deal with a fuel flow rate less than half that of the larger unit. We have had some good reports of results with the little green Motoflow 2 unit, so we know it works - at least where the fuel flow rate is not too high. On most diesel engines the fuel flow rate is high, so a Motoflow 1 unit is usually more suitable. If you must fit Motoflow 2 units, calculate one per 1200cc – so a 2 litre diesel would need two, a 3 litre diesel would need three etc. On large diesel engines, such as trucks, boats etc, it might be cost effective to fit Motoflow 2 to each injector pipe, where accessible. Otherwise fit one Motoflow 1 unit for each 3 litres of engine size.

.

The Hot Fit routine (fitting to a fully hot engine after a 20 mile run and with the engine still running) is essential when installing Ecoflow units onto any car with an electronic engine management system and lambda sensor. This means all modern petrol engined cars with catalytic converters, and most common-rail diesel engined cars.

The engine and exhaust need to be fully hot and the engine still running so that all the vehicle's temperature sensors are telling the management system the engine is up to full operating temperature. In this state, the chip in the management system will accept the lower emissions produced by the Ecoflow will recalibrate itself to suit. Once the unit is strapped in place on the fuel feed pipe, leave the engine to tickover for 20 minutes, then raise revs to 1500rpm for 2 mins to complete the job.

If you fit to these engines without the engine and exhaust fully hot and/or without the engine still running, most engine management systems will enrichen the fuel-air ratio to compensate for the lower emissions, resulting in poor running, increased fuel consumption and other problems. So your 'much more experienced distributor' needs to take heed! Of course, it is essential that anyone fitting to a running engine takes great care to avoid hot and moving parts.

Paper by Nigel Broderick, inventor of Central Reverse Polarity

Enhancing fuel efficiency with magnetic ionisation

Our dependence on oil and gas to fuel our transport, heating and industry continues to grow, providing ever increasing revenue and power to the giant companies that provide the fuel. Governments around the world use our absolute dependence on fuel as a major source of inflation proof income. Politicians promise to reduce fuel consumption and the devastating effect on our environment, but their sincerity has to be questioned. Taking the UK as an example, of every £30 spent on transport fuel more than £24 is tax. Forget the ozone layer, forget the pollution, because the fact is without the revenue from fuel there would be one enormous deficit and probably no health service.

In recent years legislation has been introduced ensuring all new cars are fitted with catalytic converters as these systems reduce many of the pollutant exhaust gases. A step in the right direction certainly, but it is not all good news. A catalytic converter will not work when it is cold, that is when the engine is first started and when the pollutants are at the highest level. A catalytic converter produces more carbon dioxide, the gas that is responsible for the greenhouse effect and the one that governments continually promise to reduce. But perhaps most significant is the fact that a catalytic converter reduces the efficiency of an engine and therefore helps it to consume more fuel. Good news if you are an oil company or government.

Recent years have also seen an ever increasing amount of additives in fuel on the understanding that they help reduce the impact on the environment. But do they? They certainly reduce the amount of actual energy available from each litre you buy because part of each litre is additives and cleaning agents. During the 1997 Peking to Paris Classic Rally competitors were experiencing a much improved fuel consumption from Chinese 90 octane fuel compared to the 'refined' fuel of Europe. In the case of the Ecoflow entry using a Ford 1600cc engine this improvement from the 'lower grade' fuel averaged 26. The question is does the fuel with additives reduce the pollution produced from each litre by a greater percentage than the reduction of available energy from the fuel, or is it just a cheaper fuel to produce?

Discrepancies in the energy content of fuel is not limited to petrol and diesel. The calorific value of gas changes continually. All may not be quite as it appears.

Reducing fuel consumption.

Ever since a price was first placed on fuel, products have been introduced to the market claiming improved fuel consumption, some of which have undoubtedly enjoyed a degree of success. Owners of vehicles can maximize economy by simple maintenance, servicing and driving style. But of course in the real world mechanical parts andtyres do wear, driving conditions change and our driving style is not always as economical as it could be. Domestic and industrial heating systems are not always serviced as often as they should, and once they are serviced carbon deposits will immediately start to build resulting in a reduction of efficiency.

Government Test

When the British Government's environmental laboratory was approached to test the Ecoflow fuel conditioner in 1992 the laboratory initially suggested it would be a waste of time and money, the product could not work, and there was insufficient scientific research to support it. However, after seeing countless testimonials from satisfied customers the laboratory agreed to design a test that would "have an acceptable degree of accuracy and repeatability" on condition that the Department of Environment retained full rights to the results. The test was actually carried out over 12,000 road miles on a petrol engined car as well as test bed running and a diesel engined truck was tested for emissions over 10,000 miles. The results of the test fully supported the manufacturers claims for the product and despite the Department of Environment making restrictions on the reporting of the results to support the marketing of the product they did eventually agree that the following wording could be used: The DTI's Environmental Technology Executive Agency Laboratory's tests on the Ecoflow fitted to a Vauxhall Cavalier showed fuel consumption improved, power increased and emissions reduced. A Volvo F10 truck tested for particulate smoke emissions showed a decrease of 15%.

Tests in other countries have since produced similar results.

What will be the benefit of fitting an Ecoflow to a car?

An improved combustion will provide greater power. This power can be used to go further (fuel economy) or to go quicker (better performance). The engine will run cleaner allowing parts such as catalytic converters which can be very expensive to replace, to last longer. This was very well demonstrated by the spark plugs fitted to the Ecoflow Peking to Paris rally car. Having completed over 10,000 miles, mostly on low octane fuel (some as low as 73 octane) and at altitudes up to 17,000 feet, the spark plugs required no cleaning or adjustment.

As well as saving money on fuel and parts, fitting an Ecoflow will help the environment by minimising exhaust pollution.

It is unlikely benefits will be immediately apparent as a 'saturation' period is required. 1,000 miles (1600 km.) should be allowed fora petrol engine and 3,000 miles (4,800 km) for a diesei engine. Benefits of the Ecoflow .will be more apparent on older or higher mileage engines, although modern engines with electronic management systems will still benefit and it wil! help to maintain their fuel efficiency. Fitting an Ecoflow will not allow the use of unleaded fuel as a replacement for leaded fuel unless mechanical modifications are also made.

What about domestic and commercial heating?

A unique 'Central Reverse Polarity' magnetic field was developed for a special Ecoflow product designed exclusively to improve fuel consumption on domestic and commercial heating installations. Benefits daimed by users of the product include not only lower fuel bills but also greater energy availability and reduced sooting of burners.

How much can be saved? :

In financial terms this question cannot be answered definitively as much depends on the condition of the engine or heating installation and the environment it is working under. Although savings of 10% and more are common a saving on fuel bills of 8% would generally provide a relatively short and justifiable pay-back period. In financial terms savings made by fitting an Ecoflow will increase as fuel costs continue to rise.

The savings for the environment are immeasurable and beyond financial considerations.

Is an Ecoflow easy to fit?

It couldn't be simpler. An Ecoflow is placed onto the fuel line and held in position by nylon ties. There are no pipes to cut, no electrical connections to make and the only tool required is some snips or scissors to trim the ends of the ties.

How does it work? :

An Ecoflow ionises the fuel by directing a specific and powerful static magnetic field right into the fuel supply line. Through a process known as magnetohydrodynamics the fuels ability to combine with oxygen improves and greater energy Is released from the fuel.

Is there a guarantee?

If the customer is not satisfied with the results for any reason the product may be returned to the distributor for a full refund within 90 days of purchase. In addition the magnetic properties are guaranteed for life.
